Weekend Update

Not a lot new going on and I don’t think I will be getting my hands on anything great this upcoming week.  So today’s update is a really going to be a look at some of the upcoming releases.

Halo 3: ODST: I don’t know how much hate mail this will get me, but I never really liked the Halo series.  There are a lot I could whine about that series of games but that would be a waste of time considering that ODST is a completely diffrent game in the Halo universe.  It takes place as a prequel to the Halo series as you serve as a orbital drop shock trooper who has real life and is weak to simple things like bullets.  Rather than you being a crazed meat tank in a magical suit of armor made of awesome, you play as a regular solider who drops into an enemy controlled city and have to use stealth and tactics to defeat your enemies.  Big fans of the original Halo series will find themselves in a bit of a pickle when they attempt to take the Master Chief way of solving problems by just having enough bullets.  I don’t like Halo and I don’t see ODST being the game to change that, but I still think that the game has some promise and I am a little excited to try it out.

Halo 3: ODST was just recently released on Tuesday, September 22 so it is available for those interested.

Aion: Tower of Eternity:  Aion is a new MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game for those who don’t know the MMO term) set to be released on the 21 of September, though I’m not sure if it did come out as I haven’t seen or heard anything recently.  Aion is another fantasy world built using the impressive Far Cry engine, which does give a new and fresh world to the many already plaguing so much of the internet.  The Aion world is set in the torn world of Atrea where the two playable races are battling over the world that’s split in two.  I hope to get a chance at a bit of play time and from the screen shots I’ve been looking at make me feel like the HUD was snatched right from the template of World of Warcraft.  I’ve been playing MMOs for some time now, so I feel like I have a bit of knowledge when it comes down to this stuff.  I think this needs a screen shot to justify how great this game works and I hope to at least get a bit of play time to let everybody know if it has what it takes to compete with the monsters of MMOs, World of Warcraft and Warhammer Online.

Aion: Tower of Eternity: released on the 21 of this month so go ahead and give the game a try and let me know how it goes.

That about does it for my weekend update.  I hope to be playing Aion this weekend, but you all know how well that goes…
